Since the last newsletter there has been a great increase in players using our facility. From December 2007 until the end of February 2008, 5618 rounds of golf were played. At this stage we have 521 active members. We are constantly looking to increase our membership and if you introduce a new full time member during the months of August and September 2008, you will receive a R 250.00 gift voucher from our Pro Shop, for more details on the terms and conditions of this offer please contact André Hefer on 022 77 22 112.

Over the last few months we hosted the Boland Seniors Golf tournament, the Boland u/23 Amateur Golf and the Boland Junior Golf Championships, as well as a number of highly successful corporate days. We also hosted the Rooibos Ladies Interclub Championships from 9-12 May, with 240 guests in attendance. The Langebaan Open was played on 7 June.

We are pleased to report that we have received wonderful feedback after some of these events. In respect of the Ladies Championships, Kerry Prodehl sent André Hefer an email stating that: “With a record entry of 256 ladies (I'm very sure that the outstanding venue choice was responsible for this!), the Club had its work cut out for them.

Ralph and the kitchen and bar team did an outstanding job, offering friendly and fast service, excellent quality meals and enthusiasm from the Organising Committee's point of view. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone involved went beyond the extra mile!

Klasie and his team, including Richard, presented a golf course and driving range of the highest standard. The hard work every morning, cutting the greens, preparing the bunkers and moving the pin placements did not go unnoticed, and we have much to be proud of in terms of the quality of our course during this event.

Marianne and her team of housekeepers were also fabulous, paying the utmost attention to detail and ensuring that the bathroom and change facilities were kept up to scratch throughout the event. The little Mother's Day 'shrine' in the lobby was a gorgeous touch, as was the 'urinal decor' in the men's change room!

While the pro-shop did not really have much involvement in the event, they too were visible and provided friendly service to the ladies.

André, that only leaves you and the rest of the admin team. Ultimately, you achieved what, so far, we don't often see ... a true team effort! I and the rest of the Langebaan team were so proud to be members of this golf course. Your friendly attitude, visibility and overall enthusiasm throughout was like a breath of fresh air. You really deserved the accolades you received at the final prize-giving.

Please would you pass on my sincere thanks to everyone involved. I appreciate the 'all hands on deck' approach that we received.”

Japie Genis, Secretary of Boland Golf, regarding the u/23 tournament also thanked us for the hospitality extended to his members and the staff’s willingness to assist with whatever was needed. He especially mentioned how impressed he was with the condition of the course, saying “Dit is eenvoudig pragtig. Miskien moet ons volgende jaar die Boland Ope daar by julle kom speel.”

We wanted to share with you our pride in this positive feedback – and our intention to keep our standards as high as ever!

We entered a Men’s Brodie League team as well as a Sandhills Ladies league team. The ladies team is a first for Langebaan and made a great impact on their first outing to Hermanus by beating the 2007 champions Hermanus B. They have continued to impress and will be playing in the semi finals against Strand on the 14th of August. We congratulate them and wish them luck for their future games!

Players should take note that with the increasing numbers of players visiting our course, it is essential to book your tee-off times in advance to secure a round. All members are also requested to read the notice board, where all information regarding golf and upcoming events is displayed.

As from 3 April 2008 we have had reciprocity with Durbanville Golf Club – members of both clubs may play at the members’ rates. An annual competition between the two clubs is also under discussion.

The Developer is busy creating off-course scenic walkways to accommodate all our joggers and walkers. We are glad to see that our course is starting to mature well and is in tip-top condition, and was ranked 54th on the NGN Greenside July ranking, an excellent achievement considering the revamped course has been open for less than a year.
