Foreword
from the Developer |
|
|
|
|
|
| |
| |
| As you will have noticed,
there have been a number of recent exciting
changes at the Estate and Golf Course. Regretfully,
Bill Sheppard, the previous Estate Manager,
resigned to assist in his son’s burgeoning
business and we wish him every success in
this new venture. We wish to thank Bill for
his efforts and the passion he displayed in
fulfilling his responsibilities. In his place
we have transferred André Hefer from
the Golf Club. Debbie Rodney will also be
moving across from the Golf Club, to the Home
Owners’ Association to assist André.
At the Clubhouse we have combined the position
of Club Manager and Pro Shop Manager into
that of Golf Director. Bob Parry has been
appointed in this role, and we look forward
to utilising his extensive knowledge and experience
in running golf courses. We have also appointed
De Villiers Uys, a PGA Apprentice, to assist
in the Pro Shop.
The condition of the golf course has been
steadily improving, despite the warm conditions
and I would like to commend Klassie van Eyssen
and his Greenkeeping staff in this regard.
In order to enhance our customer services
we have appointed Sharon Springer as our Hospitality
Manager at the Clubhouse. She will be responsible
for our guest accommodation and for maintaining
high standards at the Clubhouse.
|
|
|
| |
| Many of you will know
Sharon since she’s been on the Estate
for a number of years, running the RCI units.
Venessa van Wyk and Nicole Esterhuizen have
been appointed as Receptionists and they will
also be assisting with administration and
functions. The reception area will be manned
every day of the week in order to ensure that
golfers and guests alike receive our full
attention.
Our recent membership drive has had a very
positive response, with 63 new members joining
the Club since our special offer was launched
in November. We wish to take this opportunity
to welcome these new members, and we hope
that they thoroughly enjoy using our facilities.
In the present economic climate we are happy
to report that our golf rounds have been steadily
increasing year on year, despite other courses
reporting drastic declines. This is largely
due to our positioning the Golf Club as a
top quality facility yet with affordable rates.
Our Wednesday evening dinner specials and
Sunday lunches have been very successful,
and I am heartened to see families using facilities
such as our running track. This goes a long
way to support our vision of creating a “country
club feel” on the Estate. |
|
|
| |
 |
| |
| Exciting news
is that we have been negotiating with Seeff
Fractional Ownership, and they will soon be
launching a fractional ownership scheme on the
Estate.
This will be the last newsletter in this
format, in future we will be sending out more
regular newsletters keeping you informed of
happenings and forthcoming events at the Clubhouse
and on the Estate. |

Our
tried and tested Estate Manager - André Hefer |
|
Domestic
Workers &
Gardeners Procedures |
|
|
|
| |
| With the transfer of
André Hefer from the Golf Club to the
position of Estate Manager, the Estate will
be getting the benefit of his years of experience
and total commitment to the Estate. André
was an Officer in the South African Police Services
for over 28 years before joining us, the last
10 of which were with the Murder and Robbery
Unit in Cape Town.
He joined the Estate 3 years ago as Pro Shop
Manager and was later promoted to Golf Club
Manager.

On the golf side there
have been staff changes, as mentioned in the
Developer’s Foreword, and I am now Director
of Golf following André Hefer’s
move to Estate Manager. We have employed De
Villiers Uys, a registered PGA Apprentice, to
help run the Pro Shop (see his profile below).
De Villiers is a pleasant fellow and has made
a good start to his career with us.
A lot of André Hefer’s duties
as Club Manager are now my responsibility. He
will be a hard act to follow, and quite rightly
has received many accolades since his departure.
I am personally |
|
|
| delighted he
hasn’t gone too far away, because Iam sure
that from time to time his advice will be invaluable
to me. We will still see a lot of him - and indeed
he was in the winning team on Valentine’s
Day!
With regard to the whole Valentine’s
event, I would like to thank Neville and Charl
for their help. We had a superb evening after
a windy experience on the golf course. I really
appreciate the support from the ladies and gentlemen
of Langebaan Golf Club as well as visiting players
who also showed up. Don’t miss out on
a great social occasion next time.
My aspirations are to improve communications
and information to the membership, with more
regular Estate Newsletters keeping all our residents
and visitors up to date. With contributions
from the Estate, bar and catering, Bowls Club,
etc., all the components of the Sports Club
should work together better.
As well as tennis courts and a pristine swimming
pool we now have a jogging track and a cycling
track around the Estate. They are well signposted
- give them a go! If you call in at the Halfway
|
|
|
| House now you
will see up-to-date competition results and a
list of forthcoming events. Why not enjoy a snack
at the same time? It’s great value. I
am also keen to set up a development programme
for junior golfers in the near future, and will
keep you briefed on this.
Since last November we have had an incentive
in place to join the Golf Club, and as a result
63 new members have signed up. I would like
to welcome them and mention that if any of you
have not already done so, there is an envelope
to pick up in my office with a voucher for a
free lesson plus a free round of golf! So don’t
miss out on this enhancement to your new membership!
The continuing support of our more senior members
is also greatly appreciated, and I would like
to personally thank one and all for your patience
while everything settles down. I am here to
help and my office door will be open as much
as possible should you have any concerns. |

De Villiers is looking forward to working with
the members and helping to satisfy their golfing

African PGA training with us. |
